Paint your canvas.

On the daily choice — and the colors I refuse to put down.

We are all given a choice every single day on how we are going to paint our canvas.

I choose to paint mine with my favorite colors — gratitude, joy, light, and fun. Those are the pigments I keep on my palette. Those are the ones I dip into first thing in the morning, before anything else has the chance to.

Painting with those colors makes my life beautiful. And because my life is beautiful, everything I touch becomes beautiful too. The words I speak. The way I treat the people around me. The work I make. The room I walk into. All of it carries the color I chose.

I can only treat others with kindness, light, and love because I treat myself with kindness, light, and love first. You cannot pour a color you do not have on your own palette. The way you speak to yourself is the underpainting — every layer after that is built on top of it.

And here is the part I keep coming back to: we are all connected. We are all one. Every brushstroke I make on my canvas lands on yours, eventually. The joy is contagious. The light spreads. The kindness compounds.

So pick up the brush. Choose your colors on purpose. Make the canvas beautiful — not because life demands it, but because you get to. That is the whole secret. You get to.
